Escarpade Raises $1 Million for kids with Cancer.

One of Camp Quality’s largest fundraising events, esCarpade, has broken all previous records to raise more than $1 million for children living with cancer and their families. This year’s event raised $1,070,644 to comfortably exceed the previous record of $922,000 set last year.

More then 50 cars took part in a week of fun and fundraising with shoalhaven’s very own passionate and dedicated entrants certainly made their mark, raising over $18,000 in the recent children’s cancer awareness raising event.

Over the week long trip, South Coast residents, Jim Wade, Peter Flanagan, Kevin Stuart, Mandy Bourke, Dennis Richardson, Cam Stevens and Craig Solomon traveled in just two cars for over 2,000 Kilometers. Starting in Windsor, the teams traveled through several fun-filled stops finishing the course in Gympie, Queensland.

Entrant, Peter Flanagan said “the trip is such a rewarding event to be part of. We stopped at schools each day of the trip to raise awareness.” He added, “it is so important that the kids understand childhood cancer a little better and learn not to be frightened of one of their friends or classmates if they are diagnosed”

Entrant Mandy Bourke said “it was a life changing experience, it really makes you appreciate life and that the families that healthy children have, are blessed. I feel very proud to be part of this million dollar achievement and even more so our local efforts in raising $18,500”

Peter added “it is important to know that the money we raise locally comes straight back to our local community. In that, we are all so very greatful to everyone that helped and supported us in our efforts”.

“it’s great actually, it pushes the bar for us all for next year!”
